CAWTAR published the fifth issue of the
e-newsletter HIWAR
The new
issue of the CAWTAR’s e-newsletter HIWAR which focuses on the relevant topics related
to the Arab women and local governance participation is published. This is a
special number for Yemen,
which was among the countries covered by the regional project "Arab women
and local governance". Mrs Fatima Mutaher is the editor in chief of the
issue.
The main
issue of the number is about Yemeni women experience in local council
elections, and the expectations of the Yemeni parliamentary elections in April
/ April 2009, which remains the focus of all government institutions and
non-governmental and international levels, especially with the realization of
the right to claim "quota" for women in the Constitution. The issue
contains also an overview of the activities of Sister Arab Forum for Human
Rights, partner of CAWTAR in the implementation of the project in Yemen,
and its achievements in supporting the participation of women and enhances
their role in local governance.
In addition
of this contents, the issue includes an interview for Dr. Adila Abusharef, the
Project Coordinator of Arab women and local governance on major outputs of the
project and how to build it, idea about the book entitled "Yemeni entered
history" by the Yemen Times newspaper in cooperation with the German
Friedrich Ebert Foundation in August / August 2008, in addition to Fatima
Alhajary contribution about the presence of the Bahraini women in political life.
