The Media campaign of the project on Arab Women and Local Governance aims at raising public awareness of women role in local governance and broadcast key developments in relation to women leadership and candidacy. It employs different media means: written press, Television, Press conferences, and public service announcements as tools to achieve the campaign's main objectives for reaching out to the public, women leaders and other key players. |
CAWTAR, in collaboration with its partners in Egypt and Tunisia organized two media workshops, in June 2007, to disseminate the findings of the on-the site case studies. For the same objective, and in the same month, CAWTAR's in collaboration with Sisters Arab Forum for Human Rights in Yemen broadcasted on air radio program which hosted the Director of the Forum and the Minister of Local Governance in Yemen to answer public questions about the findings of Yemeni study and the decision-maker views of its recommendations. |
Among media campaign efforts, a competition on Best Public Service Announcement as key awareness tool was launched in early October 2006. The call for announcements was addressed to institutions, associations and organizations active in local governance and media.

The media regional meeting held on 15th of March 2006 in Cairo came out with a comprahensive action plan for the media campaign as a main component of CAWTAR’s regional project on Arab Women and Local Governance. |
