The United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) and The Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) launch the website of the project "Strengthening women's leadership and participation in politics and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia” financed by the government of Spain. |
The new issue of the CAWTAR’s e-newsletter HIWAR which focuses on the relevant topics related to the Arab women and local governance participation is published. This is a special number for Yemen, which was among the countries covered by the regional project "Arab women and local governance". Mrs Fatima Mutaher is the editor in chief of the issue. |
The fourth issue of the e-newsletter "HIWAR" focuses on the relevant themes of women's participation in local governance. This issue contains a special coverage the recent local elections in Egypt, the reality of the Sudanese women's participation in public affairs and local governance, preparations for the Moroccan women's movement in the coming local elections. In addition of interviews and press reports from Palestine and Lebanon.

The CAPWIP Institute for Gender, Governance & Leadership organize the 8th Training on Making Governance Gender Responsive for local governments (city/municipality) and the government bureaucracy, political parties, training institutes, human rights and other civil society organizations. |

Arab Women and Legislation is one of the themes selected to be covered by Cawtar’s flagship Arab Women Development report AWDRs.The goal of this campaign is to strengthen existing institutional advocacy strategies as avenues to foster women status as actors and claim holders in the legislative sphere.

Hiwar is an online newsletter that broadcasts activities of CAWTAR and its partners (including the members of the Project's regional network on Arab Woman and Local Governance. These partners essentially rotate the issuance of Hiwar. |
